In addition to learning English during the exchange in Ireland, students have also the possibility to work while studying. With this in mind, SEDA College has set up a specific department to connect students with Irish companies to help them find jobs in Ireland.

SEDA Jobs Club was launched two months ago, and about 100 students are already participating in the initiative. In fact, 20 SEDA students have already found jobs through the programme’s partner companies.

The companies that visited SEDA College to recruit students are The Care Team, HR Ballsbridge and Kaizen Recruitment.

Some highlights of these partnerships are that The Care Team provided a free course to students preparing them for homecare positions. At the Kaizen Recruitment event, 82 students attended and submitted their curriculum vitae, and the company is also assisting students with the Manual Handling course.

Students enrolled in the programme also participate in specific workshops (eg curriculum, job interview), initiative meetings, and stay on top of events and job openings according to their profile. Check out the extra activities scheduled for this month on the calendar by clicking here.

The experience of those who have already participated

Alan Arango learnt about SEDA Jobs Club from our blog, and the project helped him find his job as a cleaning agent in a hospital.

In this profession, he needs to follow different procedures to perform the cleaning. Most often, he uses a cart with different chemicals, each used to clean certain surfaces. On other days he operates different types of cleaning and waste management machines.

Alan points out that the extra classes offered by the program helped him in the selection process. “Especially the Job Interview Workshop, because it gave me tips on how to talk, what to say, what body language to use and how to be confident,” he says.
