Having a department dedicated only to academic issues is very helpful for the students once they need to sort out things that maybe other departments wouldn’t be able to.

It’s good to remember that all members of the school are important for the future and for the success of our students. Maybe a student doesn’t feel comfortable with their classroom or their teacher, for example. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that this student won’t be able to have their classroom/teacher changed. For this reason, the academic department was created, where our staff can help them with problems like that.

It’s also important to know that the academic department doesn’t only help students but also teachers, who are an essential part of the development of the school and of the students.

How is the academic department of SEDA College?

The academic office of SEDA has people who work with specific matters to help teachers and also students, as you can see below:

  • Director of studies (DOS): responsible for the teaching function of the school and the students’ learning trajectory. In addition, (DOS) manages the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training, which is meant to support and help our teachers;
  • Assistant Director of Studies (ADOS): Handles holidays, students’ attendance issues, classes return among other things;
  • Exams officer: responsible for helping and giving information about external exams, such as PET, FCE, IELTS;
  • Accommodation officer: responsible for managing and booking accommodation for students and host families.

“The students are the nucleus, they are here to learn and our job is to help them do that”,

says Jane Langley, Director of Studies at SEDA.

If you still have any question about any of these issues, just talk to the person in charge of each specific topic, and they will help you sort everything out.
