The Personal Public Service, or simply PPS as it’s known, is one of the most important documents that students and workers must have when they arrive in Ireland. But do you know what is it for or how you get yours? Check out here!

PPS serves as the reference number so that its holder has access to social assistance benefits in the country. In addition, it is an indispensable document for those who intend to work or, for example, apply for their driver’s license in Ireland.

WHO CAN GET THE PERSONAL PUBLIC SERVICE PPS:

  • People who are employed or have an official offer of employment in the country, evidenced by a letter from the employer;
  • People who are applying for the Irish driver’s license;
  • People who are responsible for the light or water bill of the house where you live (People must have a proof of official residence in Ireland).

HOW TO GET YOUR PPS IN DUBLIN:

If you fit into any of the situations listed above, all you need is your passport, IRP (your visa) and proof of residence so you can book an appointment directly at MyWelfare.ie.

After booking your appointment, the website will inform you about the time and the address you must present with the documents in hand and, after the process of booking a date, they will post to your address the number of your PPS first and then your card.

After the arrival of the card, you have everything you need to look for a job, as it is the PPS number that your employer will register you with.
