Teacher-led General English class at SEDA College

SEDA College / Everyday English

General English

Build fluency for the conversations that matter, in and beyond the classroom. Learn in a supportive international environment and put your English to work in Ireland.

The programme

Make it yours.

Classes run in the morning or afternoon; depending on level and space you may be placed in an afternoon class.

Max 16 students per class

SEDA College students come from more than 30 countries; Portuguese speakers from Brazil are the largest group, while classes use English only and mix nationalities wherever we can. See the nationality and first-language breakdown.

01

The learning experience

15 hours each week, with a maximum of 16 students per class. Both Dublin and Cork offer Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced levels. Beginner classes may be available at either centre depending on demand and availability. Elementary aligns with CEFR A1, Pre-Intermediate with A2, Intermediate with B1, Upper-Intermediate with B2 and Advanced with C1. Students must be at least 18. Complete the online progress test before arrival; the Academic Team confirms your class level through speaking and writing assessments when you arrive. The curriculum integrates speaking, listening, reading and writing for real-world communication. Learning outcomes and assessment support your progression, but no pace or result is guaranteed.

Under 18 or travelling as a school group? See SEDA Summer.

02

Learning across CEFR levels

A1 (Elementary): build confidence in basic interactions and familiar everyday situations. A2 (Pre-Intermediate): manage routine conversations, transactions and simple descriptions more independently. B1 (Intermediate): express opinions, describe experiences and communicate in familiar social, study and workplace contexts. B2 (Upper-Intermediate): develop extended communication for complex discussions and academic or professional contexts. C1 (Advanced): refine fluent, accurate communication, nuanced language and critical discussion. These are learning aims, not guaranteed results; progress varies with your background, motivation and opportunities to use English.

03

Weekly tuition

General English costs €190 per week in Dublin and €185 per week in Cork. Registration and course-materials fees are additional; request a written itemised quote before you book. The correct coursebook must be obtained within three weeks of starting, or within two weeks of a level change. Digital books may be used on a tablet or laptop, not a phone. If you do not have the book, you receive a formal warning and have one week to obtain it; after that, you cannot attend class without it.

04

Who it is for

Adults looking to strengthen practical English for travel, work, further study or daily life.

05

Timetables and class changes

Every change starts with the Class Change Request Form.

Morning → Afternoon

  • Complete the Class Change Request Form.
  • If you paid for a morning class, your first move to the afternoon is free. If you later decide to move back to the morning, this is also free the first time.
  • Any further moves between morning and afternoon after this cost €100 for each change.

Afternoon → Morning

  • Complete the Class Change Request Form.
  • Where relevant, you pay the €400 fee before the move is approved.
  • Your Student Support or Marketing Agent confirms the request with the Academic Office.
  • Once confirmed and paid, the change takes effect on a Monday, and you receive an email with details of your new class.
