SEDA College / about & quality

A school built around people.

Know who is responsible for your course, what recognition applies and where to go when you need help.

Who you'll study with

SEDA College students come from more than 30 countries. On 2 October 2026 we had 1,305 students: 904 in Dublin and 401 in Cork. Portuguese speakers from Brazil are the largest group, so you will often hear Portuguese outside class. In class, English is the only language we use, and we mix nationalities in every class where we can.

Teaching practice, clearly identified.

CertTESOL trainees complete at least 6 hours of assessed teaching practice with real learners under the supervision of an experienced English-language teacher and CertTESOL tutor. Students are told at the beginning of the week when trainees will be involved and may choose a regular class instead.

Student support / from the start

A welcoming start, in person.

On arrival, students meet in the student lounge with the Assistant Director of Studies (ADoS) and Academic Team. The English-language welcome introduces the College's history, values and course structure. Students meet their Student Support Advisor, who will likely speak their first language. The advisor can support students with emergency financial needs, accommodation, health, safety and integration. The induction explains how the Academic Office supports students with attendance, welfare, visa regulations, health and safety, and activities, and where to find the student handbook in the student app. The welcome includes questions and answers, followed by small-group speaking tests, a meeting with the advisor, and a walking tour of the city centre, school and surrounding area. The Academic Team confirms students' levels through speaking and writing assessments on arrival.

Need support for a disability, health condition, learning difference or religious practice? Tell us before you enrol at info@seda.ie or through the online Reasonable Accommodation Request Form, and we will plan it with you.

The Academic Office is open 9:00–17:00, Monday–Friday. College buildings are open 8:30–20:30 in Dublin and 8:30–17:30 in Cork. For 24/7 out-of-hours emergencies, call 083 362 3802. Samaritans are available on 116 123.
