Muhammed Cucen after graduating from university realized that there was only one thing missing from his career: speaking English. Then, he thought “I went to language courses in Turkey before. I realized that in a country where I can’t practise speaking English, I won’t be able to learn enough English. That’s why I wanted to study language in a country where I can speak English in daily life.” affirmed him.
Although he always had a dream of studying abroad. However, because of his financial situation, it was not possible, according to him.
But when Muhammed heard about the exchange program that you can work and study abroad, he contacted SEDA and the students that were already in the country. “I thought that I could cover my expenses by working when I came to Ireland”.
Planning the exchange
After the decision to come to Ireland, he started planning how was to choose the right school:” The factors that attracted me were that SEDA College is an old and prestigious course, and also the easy access to the school. However, the most important reason is that SEDA College provides direct service without intermediaries. Because of all these factors, I chose SEDA College.” confirmed Muhammed that a few months later was ready to board.
First impressions of Ireland
Muhammed says that he didn`t face too many difficulties. However, the fact that accommodation could not be found very easily was difficult for him.
The main thing that impressed him was that English is the main language spoken in Ireland, trainees are allowed to work, and thus I do not have to receive financial assistance from my family. “Also, the cosmopolitan nature of Dublin and the natural beauties of Ireland were the things that impressed me”, says Muhammed.
When he arrived in Ireland, he was already working for SEDA College, informing students and people in Turkey, who want to study language abroad and want to register, about SEDA College.
Muhammed is SEDA College’s exchange consultant and his job nowadays is to answer all of their questions about SEDA College and Ireland. “I give support to the students who have registered and need to gather the documents required for the visa application, and I help them in all the application processes”, affirmed him.
Worth it?
When asked if this experience is worth it, he replies: “Absolutely!! It was great that every piece of information I had had and obtained about SEDA College and Ireland before I came here was true. All my plans came true”.
Muhammed says that to be able to communicate with foreign people more, to understand people and to be able to express his feelings and thoughts is a wonderful feeling. “ If I return to Turkey now, more prestigious jobs will be waiting for me”, says him.
