Here at SEDA College, April was a whirlwind of activity! We kicked things off with a touch of humor for April Fool’s Day, but the rest of the month was packed with educational events, new partnerships, and exciting developments for our students and staff.

Learning Through Laughter and Historical Significance

The month began with a lighthearted prank – we announced (jokingly, of course!) the launch of SEDAAir, a new airline with flights to exciting destinations. While the airline may not have been real, our commitment to providing a fun and engaging learning environment is!

We also took our students on a trip to Kilmainham Gaol, a historic prison that played a significant role in Irish history. This immersive experience offered a powerful learning opportunity about Ireland’s past.

Expanding Horizons: New Partnerships and Programs

This month, we were thrilled to announce a new partnership with ESCAC, a prestigious film school in Spain. This exciting collaboration offers our students a unique program where they can combine English language learning with the study of cinema.

We also said goodbye to our previous catering service and unveiled a brand new vending machine and coffee station in our student lounge! This revamped space provides a welcoming environment for students to socialize, relax, and fuel their studies with a variety of snacks and beverages.

Investing in the Future: Teacher Training and Accreditation

We’re committed to fostering excellence in English language education, which is why we launched a new group in Cork for our Trinity College London CertTESOL course. This program qualifies individuals to teach English in Ireland.

On the accreditation front, we’re proud to announce that SEDA Cork has been accredited by Eaquals, joining our already accredited Dublin campus. This prestigious accreditation demonstrates our dedication to upholding the highest standards in English language education.

A Month of Cultural Exchange and Community

April was a month of embracing different cultures! We hosted an art gallery exhibition featuring the works of Brazilian artist Alexander Cabral in our student lounge. Additionally, we welcomed new groups of young students from Italy for a mini-stay program where they could combine their studies with exploring Dublin.

We also had the pleasure of hosting a special talk featuring Professor Pachecão and businessman Nicolau Esteves, both hailing from Brazil. This event offered a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange and intellectual discourse.

Staying true to our Irish roots, SEDA proudly sponsored the Campeonato Brasileiro de Jiu-Jitsu 2024 in São Paulo, and we had many talented athletes competing in the event.

Celebrating Summer and Sustainability

With summer just around the corner, we launched our brand new summer T-Shirts, perfect for showing your SEDA pride in style. We also attended an event hosted by the Brazilian Embassy in Dublin, highlighting the vibrant Brazilian community in Ireland.

Giving back to the environment is a core value at SEDA. In April, we launched our “Leave No Trace” campaign to reduce waste production in the school. This initiative encourages recycling paper and utilizing digital displays to promote school activities, minimizing paper usage.

Finally, we’re excited to announce the launch of Season 4 of our popular podcast, SEDA Cast! With new hosts and engaging content delivered in Portuguese, this is a fantastic resource for our students and the wider Portuguese-speaking community.
