But wait, do you know why Ireland started to celebrate St. Patrick`s Day? We are going to explain to you right now.

St. Patrick`s Day origin

Patrick was born in Britain and he was kidnapped by the Irish that kept him as a slave. After the escape, he went back to his home but dreamed of the “voice of God” sending him back to Ireland. After coming back to Ireland, he started to teach Irish about the Christianity.

People started to celebrate St. Patrick’s day on March 17, believed to be the day of his death, and the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.

The first parade of St. Patrick`s day was in America, not in Ireland, and since this event, the celebrations started. Here in Ireland, the parade was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but for everybody’s happiness this year the parade is back!

Check it out:

The school will be closed at 17 and 18, back on 21 with the activities normally.

Happy St. Patrick`s day guys!
