SEDA was the first English School to be on St. Patrick’s Day parade 

SEDA College was the first English school in Ireland to be on St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Students and staff together participated in this enormous event. During the day, the school also receive groups from all over the country. 

The CEO, Tiago Mascarenhas, proudly commented on that achievement: “SEDA is constantly breaking barriers and being the first in many things. This way of thinking ahead guaranteed us the status of pioneering in so many aspects, and of course one of them is to be the first school to be on St. Patrick’s Day Parade”.

The parade started at 12h15, and groups from every part of the island were there. Institutions such as Gardaí,  Firefighters, and Revenue were the first ones to present to the public. Bands from Canada and the United States also played in the parade, with gymnastics and dancers, for the public delight. 

Jorge Baez, coordinator of Social activities of SEDA College also talked about the emotion of being part of one of the biggest cultural events in the world: “ Being here is remarkable, and to be here representing SEDA College is one of the most important achievements of my career”.

The students and the staff were dressed as swans representing the birds that lived in the rivers and canals, and water, representing The Royal Canal and the Grand Canal.

Sara Urbano, SEDA’s staff affirmed that this experience was unique: “I felt amazing being part of this big party. Thank you to everyone that organized this parade!”. Anna Castanheiro, SEDA’s manager was delighted to be on the parade for the first time: “ I watched the parade 2 times, and I never imagined that the next year I’d be here. I’m so glad!”.

 Now St. Patrick’s is over. To us left just wait for this party in 2024. See you there, guys!
