SEDA College is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Columbus Sport
Club, a vibrant initiative founded in 2023 with the mission of welcoming international
students and residents into the world of traditional Irish sports, specifically Gaelic football
and hurling.
Columbus Sport Club was created with a vision of inclusion and cultural exchange,
offering newcomers to Ireland an authentic introduction to Gaelic games while fostering
strong bonds within both the local and international communities. Leading this inspiring
project is Marianela, the club’s dedicated Director, whose commitment and passion have
been instrumental in defining Columbus’s mission and values. Working alongside her on
the field is Emilio Piccione, the club’s Captain, who has played a crucial role in guiding
Columbus through the complex process of registration with the Gaelic Athletic
Association (GAA), a major milestone that will enable the club to participate fully in
official competitions and events across Ireland.
As an institution deeply committed to cultural immersion and student engagement, SEDA
College proudly recognizes the transformative power of sport in connecting people and
promoting understanding across diverse backgrounds. In support of Columbus Sport
Club’s mission, SEDA College has awarded a scholarship to assist with the purchase of
team jerseys, an initiative that perfectly reflects our values of education, community
involvement, and celebration of Irish heritage.
We are proud to stand alongside Columbus Sport Club in promoting not only Gaelic
games but also a deeper appreciation of Irish culture. Together, we look forward to
providing opportunities for international students and residents to connect, compete, and
