1 – Bend it like Beckham (2002)
This is a romantic and catchy story about a girl who has been raised by a very strict and traditional Indian family who didn’t allow her to play football. One day, playing for fun, she was seen by a semi-pro coach who invited her to join a team. She stands out a lot but she has to keep this secret from her family because she believed that they would never accept her as a football player. It’s interesting because it naturally brings – in a very smooth way – the conversation about gender and the gender gap in today’s society. This movie will be played on 05/06 on Tuesday. Check out the trailer below:
2 – Escape to Victory (1981)
The second film on SEDA Cinema week list is Escape to Victory. The story revolves around a match between Nazi players against captives in a concentration camp. The film has Pelé, a Brazilian soccer legend, on its cast and behind the plans of having this match, was a massive escape from the camp. It is definitely breathtaking! This movie will be played on 06/06 on Wednesday. Check out below.
3 – Goal! The Dream Begins (2005)
This story is about a Mexican boy who always dreamt about becoming a professional football player. One day he finally has the chance to prove his abilities in a professional team in the UK. The chase to become a super start has started and Santiago Muñez will go for it. This movie will be played on 07/06 on Thursday. Check out the trailer below.
4 – She’s the Man (2006)
This is a funny and very catchy story about a girl who pretends to be a boy just to play in a team that her crush play. The turnabouts are amazing and the story is full of funny moments. This movie will be played on 08/06 on Friday. Check out the trailer below:
