We’re excited to introduce Sara Díaz, the new Director of Studies at SEDA College! With years of experience and a deep passion for language education, Sara brings a fresh perspective to the role. Here’s a bit about her journey, her insights on learning English, and her plans for supporting students at SEDA.
Sara’s journey in education began with a lifelong interest in teaching English. She studied Linguistics at university, and after graduating, she joined SEDA to develop an online course specifically designed to teach English to Spanish speakers. That experience was a defining moment; she loved adapting materials to students’ needs and seeing them grow. From that point on, she knew she wanted to keep learning and honing her skills in language education.
The Journey from Assistant to Director of Studies
Working as SEDA’s Assistant Director of Studies gave Sara valuable insights into the everyday needs of students and teachers. She was able to be part of the support process that helped both groups navigate the challenges of learning and teaching English. By working closely with SEDA’s former Director of Studies, Dimitra, Sara gained practical experience and a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of the school. Now, as she steps into her new role, Sara feels well-prepared to lead and support the SEDA community.
In her role as Director of Studies, Sara aims to make a meaningful impact on the student experience. Her goal is to keep improving the quality of SEDA’s curriculum, provide tailored resources, and ensure students feel engaged and motivated. She envisions a learning environment where each student can confidently achieve fluency in English while enjoying the journey.

Overcoming Challenges in Her New Role
Sara acknowledges that transitioning into this new leadership position has come with its own set of challenges. However, she has taken these opportunities to grow and adapt, working closely with her team to ensure a seamless experience for both students and staff. Sara credits the supportive SEDA community for helping her make this transition as smooth as possible.
Sara encourages students to embrace a positive attitude and not to fear making mistakes. She believes that language learning takes time, and though progress might not be obvious every day, students can see their achievements when they look back. She also stresses the importance of practice, recommending that students seize every chance to communicate in English, especially with people from different backgrounds, whether in the classroom, the workplace, or around Dublin.
What Makes SEDA College Unique?
Sara believes that SEDA stands out among language schools in Ireland due to its people-first approach. Both students and staff are supported, creating an environment where everyone can thrive. From General English and IELTS preparation to Academic English, TESOL certification, and ISE exam prep, SEDA offers a range of programs to suit students’ needs. There are also evening classes with scholarships for refugees, reflecting SEDA’s commitment to inclusion and opportunity. Sara is proud to be part of such a diverse and supportive community.
Sara finds immense motivation in helping students and staff succeed. Knowing she plays a role in students achieving their goals is fulfilling and fuels her passion for continuous improvement. She looks forward to expanding SEDA’s programs, improving resources, and fostering an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels they belong.
