Get to know SEDA College’s teachers

As we mentioned before on our previous post about what a high-quality school should have, SEDA College is rigorously based on the regulations that the Irish government requires, and of course, we apply this in our infrastructure as well as in our teachers.

From the beginning and as the years have passed, SEDA has tried to keep the best teachers so that some of them have worked with us for many years.

Without thinking too much, SEDA has one of the best English teachers staff in Dublin. Surely you will be thinking… everyone must be Irish! And we can proudly say no! SEDA has a rich cultural exchange in terms of teachers, ranging from Ireland to teachers who come from Spanish speaking countries, among others.

It’s true that SEDA has teachers who are not English native speakers, but it doesn’t make them less efficient or causes the school to fail to comply with the Irish regulations.

On the contrary, it gives you a greater breadth of learning, because as you can learn from a British accent, you can also learn from an Irish accent or an American accent.

That is why we leave here one of the most controversial questions: why don’t schools hire only teachers who are English native speakers?

We know that this is your biggest question, and as we are dedicated to showing that SEDA College is a quality school, and it differs from many others, we leave this point here, because we are not the only school that hires teachers from all over the world.

“We are proud of our teachers as a team and we want to grow together,” says Jane Langley, director of studies at SEDA College.

MYTH NUMBER 1: SCHOOLS ALWAYS GO FOR TEACHERS WHO ARE ENGLISH NATIVE SPEAKERS

It’s true that schools often seek out native speakers, but the reality is that for many schools this is primarily a marketing technique. With native teachers on staff, schools can impress parents and students and charge more for that.

In fact, native teachers with minimal teaching experience are often referred to as a part-time “teaching assistant”. For actual teaching jobs, at the end of the day, many schools hire the most experienced and qualified teachers, regardless of where they come from.

And that is exactly what SEDA College does, where each teacher has the necessary qualification to teach. However, remember that, especially, you need to do your part to learn in addition to what the teacher teaches in class. In addition, the school leaders are not with you in your classes, so they can’t keep up with everything that happens on a daily basis. For this reason, there is an academic department, where you can talk about teachers and other aspects related to your academic life.
