For the first time in the history of Irish football, a team made up almost entirely of Brazilian players will compete in the final of the Frank Roe Cup, one of Ireland’s traditional football competitions. Celtic United FC will face Saint Marks this Saturday, 17th May, at the AUL Complex in Dublin, with kick-off at 2pm (Ireland) / 10am (Brazil) – and several SEDA College representatives will be on the pitch.
The Brazilian squad secured their place in the final after an impressive 3–0 victory over Howth, the current champions of the AUL 2nd Division League. Alongside this strong cup performance, Celtic United are also delivering an outstanding campaign in the league, currently sitting 5th in the table with two games in hand. With favourable results, they could climb as high as second place – which would earn them promotion to a higher division. In their last two matches, Celtic United delivered back-to-back thrashings: 6–1 against OLV FC and 5–1 over Clonee United.
SEDA College, a proud supporter of sports and student initiatives, will be represented in the final by three students and Commercial Director Danilo Veloso, who shared his thoughts on the experience:

Founded in 2022 by Argentinian coach Sebastian Garcia, Celtic United has grown steadily year by year. The team now includes over 25 players, an interim and assistant coach, a physiotherapist, a photographer, a marketing manager, and a treasurer, all working together to make the dream happen.
