– The name Dublin comes from Gaelic ‘dubh linn’ which translates to “black pool”. The modern name of the city – Baile Áth Cliath – means “town of the ford of the hurdles”, because the four main routes of Ireland converged in a crossing point made of barriers of interlaced seedlings over the low tide of the River Liffey;

– In Dublin are more than 750 pubs, and the oldest is The Brazen Head, founded in 1198;

– Dublin is the city that many technology giants, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others, have chosen to open their offices. These companies are next to the Grand Canal Dock area, also known as “Silicon Docks”;
