SEDA College celebrates another inspiring achievement from one of the young athletes it supports.
Artur Coelho, just 13 years old and a yellow belt in Jiu-Jitsu, had an outstanding performance in his most recent competition, demonstrating talent, discipline, and great progress in the sport.
Representing the Maze BJJ academy in Athlone, Artur starred in an impressive campaign that reinforces the potential of the new generation of Jiu-Jitsu.
Dominant campaign with five submissions
The athlete competed in six fights throughout the championship and won five victories by submission, demonstrating not only technical preparation but also control and strategy during the fights.
All victories occurred after takedowns followed by submissions, showing a complete performance both standing and on the ground — an important differential for athletes in training.
The results were distributed between two modalities:
- Three victories in the kimono (Gi);
- Two wins in No-Gi.
In addition to five submissions, Artur suffered only one loss by points, ending the championship with an extremely solid performance.
Title in the No-Gi division
The highlight of the competition was winning the title in his division in the No-Gi category, a result that represents an important step in the athlete’s career.
The victory reinforces the consistency of training and the daily commitment to the sport, fundamental values for the development of young athletes. “I am very happy to be crowned champion of my No-Gi division,” commented Artur after the competition.
A dream that started at home
Artur’s story with Jiu-Jitsu began early. He has been training for 10 years and started his journey training at home with his own father. Today, he continues to evolve under the guidance of the Maze BJJ team, an academy led by his family.
This trajectory built since childhood shows how the sport can develop discipline, confidence and perseverance from an early age.
Focus on the European Kids Championship in April
After the achievement, the athlete already has a new goal defined: the European Kids Championship, which will take place in April. Preparation has already begun, and the focus is now entirely on this next international competition.
