Arthur began Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 3. What started as an activity to expend energy and learn self-control became a central part of his life.
Today, at 11 years old, he is a yellow belt and competes in the 39 kg category, always seeking to evolve with patience, persistence, and respect — essential pillars of the gentle art.
His routine includes constant training, physical preparation, and guidance from teachers who accompany each stage of his development.
Even at such a young age, Arthur already understands that being an athlete is about commitment, not just talent. “It’s not an easy sport,” he says. “It takes a lot of dedication, but it’s worth it with every achievement.”
Ahead in school — and disciplined outside of it
What makes his trajectory even more impressive is that, despite the pace of training, Arthur never let the sport interfere with school.
On the contrary: he is ahead, attending the 6th grade of elementary school, and maintains good academic performance.
This is possible thanks to:
- An organized schedule;
- Family support;
- Teachers who encourage his routine;
- And his own commitment to his studies.
In addition to school, Arthur also takes an English course at SEDA College, reinforcing the education he wants to build for the future.
The importance of a support network
No athlete grows alone — and Arthur knows this better than anyone. He makes a point of mentioning and thanking those who walk alongside him every day:
- His family, who believe in his potential;
- His school teachers, who understand his routine;
- His jiu-jitsu instructors, who shape his character on the mat;
- His training partners, who share effort and victories;
- And his sponsors, who make possible the necessary structure to compete.
This support network is what allows him to be, at the same time, an athlete, a student, and a child — all in balance.
Education and sports: a combination that opens doors
Stories like Arthur’s show how discipline, study, and dedication form not only a good athlete, but a young person prepared for the world.
For him, learning English, keeping up with his studies, and continuing to evolve in sports are ways to broaden horizons, create opportunities, and build a solid path for the future — whether on or off the mats.
The future starts now
Arthur Nascimento Santiago is living proof that age does not define ability. With focus, support, and determination, he builds values from an early age that he will carry throughout his life: respect, effort, courage, humility, and passion for what he does.
His example inspires other young people and reinforces the importance of encouraging children to believe in themselves — because great stories begin exactly like that. And we at SEDA College are proud to be a part of it!
