SEDA Weekly: Mini-Stays, Farewells, Top Tips & a Galaxy Far, Far Away…*

Hey SEDA family!

What a week it’s been! Packed classrooms, emotional goodbyes, hiking adventures, and even a bit of Star Wars trivia—let’s catch up on everything that’s been happening at SEDA!

A Warm Welcome & A Fond Farewell

We were thrilled to welcome the first groups of our Mini Stay programme—young students from Italy who have been taking Ireland by storm! Last weekend, they laced up their hiking boots and conquered Howth, taking in the breathtaking coastal views (and probably a few seagulls eyeing their snacks).

On the flip side, we had to say goodbye to Salina, our wonderful student from China. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house! Salina, we’ll miss you, and we hope your next adventure is just as amazing as your time with us!

Survival Tips & Full Houses!

Finding accommodation in Ireland can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack, but fear not—Nilka came to the rescue with fantastic tips for our Latin American students. If you missed her wisdom, make sure to check in with Student Support for all the golden nuggets of advice!

Meanwhile, over in Cork, it was a full house for the Manual Handling Course. Lifting, carrying, and learning like pros—our students are now officially prepared to lift their suitcases, shopping bags, and hopefully their friends when they collapse from exhaustion after a night out.

Meet Ariunaa & Podcast Highlights

A big welcome to Ariunaa, the newest member of the SEDA family! She shared a bit about her journey in Ireland so far, and we’re so excited to have her with us.

Speaking of stories, Karla from Mexico was this week’s special guest on Desde Irlanda Para El Mundo, our Spanish-language podcast. If you haven’t tuned in yet, what are you waiting for? Grab a coffee and check it out!

Test Day Hacks & Nursing Workshop Success

Nervous about your speaking test? Fear not! Teacher Hazal dropped some amazing tips to help students ace their induction day tests—so take notes and walk into that exam like a pro.

And let’s not forget the Nursing Knowledge and Communication Skills workshop! It was a huge success last week and again today. Teacher Douglas gave us the inside scoop, and let’s just say—our future nurses are looking sharper than ever!

Weekend Adventure Alert!

This Saturday, we’re heading to the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle! If you haven’t signed up yet, pop by Student Support and see if there’s still a spot left—trust us, you don’t want to miss it!

This Week’s Blog Highlight: Star Wars in Ireland?

Did you know Star Wars was filmed in Ireland? That’s right! Some of the breathtaking scenes from the franchise were shot on Skellig Michael, an island off the coast of Kerry. So if you ever dreamed of being a Jedi, now’s your chance—just don’t try to use the Force on your next Progress Test.

And Finally… Your Fun Irish Fact of the Week!

Did you know that in Ireland, it’s considered bad luck to put your shoes on the table? So if you’ve been using your dining table as a shoe rack—stop immediately! Otherwise, you might be cursing yourself with bad luck (or just getting a telling-off from your housemates).

That’s all for this week, folks! Stay awesome, keep learning, and we’ll see you around campus!

Cheers,
The SEDA Team
