And the keyword to being successful in your job search is just one: prepare yourself!

That’s why we’ve broken down some important points to keep in mind before you start walking around sending your CVs across the Emerald Island. Set aside a little time from your day there and come read with us!

HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE IRISH JOB MARKET

ENJOY OPPORTUNITIES IN INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

Although unpaid in Ireland, internships are great ways to learn new skills and practice what you have been studying/working throughout your life.

In many companies, there is a possibility of you actually being hired after the end of the internship program, so work hard. Even if there is no such option, doing a good job can help in future selections. Take the routine as an opportunity and prioritize learning new skills.

DO VOLUNTARY WORK

Did you know that this can be a big differentiator in job search in Ireland? If you and another competitor have a similar CV, but you have some volunteering experience, have no doubt that this will increase your chances considerably.

If you have free time and want to engage in this kind of activity, know that growth is right, both personally and professionally. Volunteering can be viewed as a strategy to leverage your resume, especially if you have little or no experience. SEE HERE.

CREATE YOUR CV

Your resume is the business card and the recruiter’s first impression of you. So, do your best!

Review the spelling of the words to avoid grammatical or typographical errors – especially when it comes to English, caution should be doubled. Format information clearly and concisely, highlighting your qualifications and academic background.

Do you still have questions about how to build your resume in English? Remember that SEDA College Online has a specific course for this (check here), and SEDA students access the platform for free. Read more here.

GIVE IMPORTANCE TO ENGLISH LEARNING

Yes! It may seem obvious, but it’s always worth remembering that when moving to an English-speaking country, performing well in the language is the most important part of getting a job. Take the time to study, learn, prioritize your classes and the results will come naturally.

MAKE THE MOST OF EXTRA CLASSES

SEDA students can count on extra activities every day to enhance their learning and other skills. Conversational classes, grammar, interview preparation and even barista courses are all part of the monthly schedule.

JOIN SEDA JOBS CLUB

The program was created with the goal of connecting SEDA students with companies in Ireland and does so through workshops, preparatory courses and classes, job openings and more.

Launched in June, the program already has over 100 participants and students have even found opportunities in the Irish job market. Read more here.

To be part of the club you only need:

•  Enrol or be enrolled in a six-month course at SEDA College;
• Share your data with your marketing agents (previous work experience, area of interest, personal qualifications);
• Fill in the registration form at the reception;
• Send your resume in English to [email protected] and schedule a meeting with him. You can schedule even if you don’t have all your documents yet;
• Give your IRP and PPS numbers to the coordinator when you have them.

Important: Your application will only be sent after you provide all the details of your documents to Romulo. Current students at SEDA College can also apply for the program.

So, what are you waiting for to prepare and get your job in Ireland?
