An internship in Ireland certainly makes a difference in the curriculum of any exchange student. That’s why SEDA College has an exclusive student internship program, which was launched in 2012.

In the first semester of 2019, 54 students started the application process, of which 46 completed the application and were able to participate in the program. Of these, 23 students, or 50%, got an internship opportunity in Ireland through SEDA College.

There are many reasons why some exchange students did not find an internship position. Among them are things such as other work opportunities, returning home, and other such changes in their lives.

SEDA College has contacts with about 90 Irish companies, and in the first half of 2019, 10 offered internships for students in sectors such as business, information technology, hospitality, accounting, and engineering.

“It’s very important and rewarding to open this door for our students, especially when it helps them develop their skills and careers,” says SEDA College CEO Tiago Mascarenhas.

HOW SEDA COLLEGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WORKS

After contacting the program coordinator and sending their CV in English, the student receives the vacancies that are currently open. After choosing the opportunities that interest them, job interviews are scheduled. If approved, the student will be ready to begin the internship in Ireland!

These internships are part-time and can easily be fit into a student’s school schedule. Additionally, full-time opportunities are available during the school holidays. The duration of the internship may range from 4 weeks to 6 months.

These internships are unpaid, but it is important to remember that vacancies really exist, so there is a chance of hiring after the experience is over.
