My internship at SEDA

Hi Everyone,

My name is Andy, I am French and I will tell you the LOVELY story of  my SEDA internship.

This is what happened to me in my first internship in Ireland. You know that sometimes the internships are very bad, you go to the company and you do tasks that are not helpful and not necessary, the tasks that nobody else wants to do, but I will tell you something about my internship at SEDA. It was completely the opposite at SEDA College. It is one of the companies who will give you a chance to prove that you are a serious employee, not a baby who doesn’t know how to do anything. They trust you and this gives you an incredible good feeling.

I actually did 2 internships at SEDA College and both were perfect.

Now, lets discover together what I have done during this internship.

21st May 2016:

I arrived at SEDA, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I went inside and I introduced myself to the receptionist and TORNADO. I didn’t understand anything, she started to explain to me about my job and I realized that I would work at reception.
The first day was strange but amazing.

07th June 2016:

It has now been 3 weeks and I have started to answer the phone. It was horrible, I couldn’t understand anything and when I thought  I did understood something, it was wrong! I discovered that I didn’t like answering the phone.

21th June 2016:

I started to feel more confident in my work, I made some mistakes but less than at the beginning. I really like to be at the administration because I don’t answer the phone! But more seriously I really enjoy my time at  reception, I started to feel like an employee not an intern.

12th July 2016:

Already 1 month! Now I am completely confident with what I have to do. I didn’t really realize that I was here 1 month ago and in 15 days I have to go back to France.

29th July 2016:

My last day, I feel so sad, I don’t want to leave, I would prefer to work at SEDA than continue my studies… But I must finish them. Now I have better English, I have improved my personal and professional skills and this is wonderful.

Now I will tell you about my second experience at SEDA. Again for an internship but this time I worked with Jeny, student support and activities manager.

14th November 2016:

I arrived at SEDA I know that I will work at reception in the morning. I already know what I have to do so it is perfect. In the afternoon I will start my job as Jeny’s assistant. I am a little bit afraid because I know she’s not here for 2 weeks. I will start my internship without my manager.

Nevertheless she is wonderful and she sent me all the tasks that I have to do during the 2 weeks. Of course I had a lot of questions, I asked the people around me and I sent her emails to get more details about my tasks.

28th November 2016:

During these 2 weeks I did all my tasks, and I realized with time that it is really easy to do them. During this week I did have a problem. A problem that I absolutely did not  know how to fix , but don’t worry guys, I fixed it ( I am the best!). It was the first time that I had to fix something alone. My god! They ask me to fix it, I was just here for 2 weeks, can you imagine, they trusted me! I was terrified and very excited at the same time.

16th of December:

This is my last day, I only had 5 weeks of internship. It was so fast, you wouldn’t imagine! It’s like  your are looking at a movie and you don’t realize that

2 hours has passed already. It was the same for me at this moment.

I am writing to you and I can tell you my feeling, I am actually very sad. I don’t want to leave. SEDA College has become my family. Well I know it is strange you will tell me “Come on, you stay only 2 months you left  for 3 months, they have time to forget you and you come back for only 5 weeks you are not serious!” But I am!

SEDA College is just a perfect place to do an internship, if you are looking for an international internship you must come here, you will have the best professional and personal experience of your life ! And I know a lot of you are nervous about taking the plane alone, but don’t worry Irish people are so kind, they will help you and sincerely I was afraid, I had never taken a plane alone before. (my tips for that is just be as the duck: follow the other )

XOXO
