Fernanda Sespede Galvão, intern at Maldron Hotel:

“I applied to take part in SEDA College’s internship programme and I got a placement in Maldron Hotel, working in the accounts department under the supervision of the general manager Philip Uzice.

I was controlling the stock sheets for food and beverages, processing orders, registering documents in the system. I can say that Philip is a good manager and he always helped me in everything. I was quite happy in my internship and at the end of the work experience, which was unpaid, the hotel offered me a part-time job. I was really happy because I really liked working in the hotel!

This internship helped me to enter the job market in Ireland and it was a good experience for my career. I did something I already knew about as I am a graduate accountant, but working with other language has improved my skills a lot.

Doing this internship was a great way to improve my English as well. It was an opportunity for me to put into practice the things I learned during my English classes at SEDA.

It was a fantastic experience overall as all the staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful.

I’d like to thank SEDA College for this opportunity which was a great addition to my overall experience learning English in Ireland!”
