German class at SEDA: What about learning a new language?

Learning a new language is definitely a huge challenge. It is all about dedication and getting immersed in the culture and all its particularities. Therefore, in order to help our students to take their first step with the new language, we are bringing German class at SEDA. The students will be given the basics of the language, just to make German sound a bit more familiar and also interesting.

In these classes, they are learning things like how to introduce themselves, say the alphabet, count numbers and also some grammar like the definite and indefinite articles, some verbs etc.

The thing is that, once you start learning the language, you may find some similarities between German and English. Obviously, they are not the same. Some structures are very different, but the fact is that German can also help you with your English skills. You can learn some English by studying German as well.

Probably you have already had some contact with the language before by watching movies, maybe TV shows or listening to songs. Some people might think that German sounds a little bit hard or even weird, with creepy-long words and so many consonants coming together, but as a matter of fact, nowadays German has become one of the most important languages worldwide, especially with regards economic issues, since Germany became the main player in the EU.

So you may easily find a German company in your country or in your hometown that would require German speaking staff. Even here in Dublin, it’s not that difficult to find job vacancy announcements requesting some German abilities.

My recommendation for those who want to start learning a new language is to have someone by your side, helping you out with your questions and your likely problems. So I really recommend you to take the opportunity of learning German. You might love it and at the end of the course, you will probably be able to pronounce names like Friedrich Nietzsche, Johann Sebastian Bach or even words like naturwissenschaften. Keep calm! Come to the German class at SEDA and make sure you really learn it.

If you haven’t attended yet, the next class is going to be on 23 of February.

Tschüss. See you, everyone.
