Did you know that as a SEDA student you are very privileged? SEDA is the only English school in Dublin that offers an internship programme to all its students <\/span><\/i>free of charge<\/i><\/b>! So what is this internship programme about and why should you apply? Here are the Top 5 benefits of SEDA\u2019s unique scheme.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Internship that fits your studies<\/b><\/h4>\n

You can do the internship part-time while you are studying and full-time when on holidays. Some internships can be as short as 4 weeks (for example, in the Hospitality industry). But others are longer – typically, 3-4 months. Most office-based internships are for 3-4 months. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most companies we work with are based in Dublin city centre – others can be reached by public transport. Please note that 99% internships we can find you are unpaid. However, many employers will cover your expenses – like transport and lunch. <\/span><\/p>\n

So if you don\u2019t have much to do after your class at SEDA, an internship is a great option to fill the time!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Get professional experience<\/b><\/h4>\n

An internship is a great chance to improve your professional skills and get some Irish experience on your CV. Most of the time we will find you work experience in your area. For example, there are opportunities available in Business Administration, Information Technology, Accounts, Marketing, Hospitality, Catering and many others. But due to the short-term (and part-time) nature of most internships, there are virtually no opportunities in areas like Engineering or Medical. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most of our students who applied for internships said the experience helped them to get a good job – in Ireland or their country of origin. Some were even offered permanent positions by the host companies!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Improve English fast<\/b><\/h4>\n

An internship allows you to practice your English in a real work environment – something that no class can offer. You will constantly be around Irish people (as well as colleagues from other countries). Moreover, you will have to understand many different accents and new vocabulary in order to get the job done! <\/span><\/p>\n

Most students who got internships with our help reported dramatic improvements in spoken English. In addition, they made plenty of friends from Ireland and all over the world. After all, an internship is not only about work!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Practice doing job interviews<\/b><\/h4>\n

After you apply, we will try to find you an opportunity that best fits your education and experience. Sometimes we\u2019re able to place students within days of receiving an application. Sometimes the process may take longer, but usually not more than 4-8 weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n

When we find a suitable host company that is also looking for an intern of your profile, we organise an interview. The interview usually takes place in the company\u2019s offices and it is an opportunity for the applicant to show themselves and learn more about the company and the role. We will organise as many interviews as needed for you to get a placement. So don\u2019t worry if you don\u2019t get an offer the first time around!<\/span><\/p>\n

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain<\/b><\/h4>\n

Applying for an internship is free and very simple – just send your CV to <\/span>internship@seda.ie<\/span><\/a> . After filling out the required documents you just have to sit back and wait for us to contact you with interview details. You can attend as many interviews as you want, and we\u2019ll organise new ones if you don\u2019t like the company. It is only when both the company and the applicant are satisfied that the internship actually starts. <\/span><\/p>\n

The vast majority of our students who went through this process have been very happy with the experience. For some students, the internship completely changed their lives as they got a permanent job and stayed in Ireland as a result.<\/span><\/p>\n

But even if the internship does not transform your existence, you will still end up with some nice memories, a killer CV and a valuable reference letter. So\u2026 what are you waiting for?<\/span><\/p>\n
