Studying English in Ireland is a life-changing dream for many international students. For Andr\u00e9 Torres<\/strong>, a 29-year-old from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that dream came true through a scholarship opportunity with SEDA College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In this edition of International Students of Dublin<\/em>, Andr\u00e9 shares how his journey not only transformed his life, but also shows how international students bring positive contributions to Ireland.<\/p>\n

From a Dream to Dublin: Where It All Started<\/h2>\n

Andr\u00e9\u2019s journey began with a social media post by SEDA College about a new scholarship opportunity.<\/p>\n

“I’ve always dreamed of studying in Ireland with SEDA. After seeing the post, I spoke to Amanda, and she shared it with M\u00e1rcio, my mentor in the Cidade de Deus project. He then arranged a call with Tiago at SEDA, and that\u2019s how everything started.”<\/em><\/p>\n

What began as a distant dream soon turned into a life-changing reality.<\/p>\n

Adjusting to Life in Ireland<\/h2>\n

Moving to a new country is never easy, especially when you don\u2019t speak the language. But Andr\u00e9 adapted quickly.<\/p>\n

“I really felt the cold during the first week,” he says with a laugh, “but after that, I adjusted surprisingly fast.”<\/p>\n

His positive attitude and resilience helped him settle into Irish life smoothly \u2014 something many international students relate to.<\/p>\n

SEDA College played a crucial role in Andr\u00e9\u2019s new chapter.<\/p>\n

“SEDA has been the foundation of everything \u2014 learning, work, and even accommodation. The support I\u2019ve received has been incredible.”<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 arrived in Dublin with zero English, but after just three months, he\u2019s already seeing huge improvements.<\/p>\n

“The teachers are amazing \u2014 very qualified and patient. I\u2019ve made more progress than I ever expected in such a short time.”<\/p>\n

First Work Experience in Ireland<\/h2>\n

One of the biggest challenges for new students is finding their first job. But for Andr\u00e9, that happened quickly.<\/p>\n

“Thanks to God \u2014 and of course, to Tiago \u2014 I got a job in a restaurant during my second week in Dublin.”<\/p>\n

He started as a kitchen porter<\/strong>, washing dishes. But with hard work and dedication, he\u2019s already moved up:<\/p>\n

“Now I\u2019m helping in the kitchen, preparing food and managing the buffet. It\u2019s a completely new experience and I\u2019m learning so much.”<\/p>\n

Advice for Future International Students<\/h2>\n
