Starting from 13th January 2025<\/strong>, all student visa (IRP) registrations in Ireland will be managed by Immigration Service Delivery (ISD)<\/strong>, taking over from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB). If you’re coming to Ireland as an international student, registering your permission is a key step in your journey. Here\u2019s everything you need to know about the process!<\/p>\n

What is the IRP?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Irish Residence Permit (IRP) is an official card that proves you have permission to stay in Ireland as a student. If you’re studying for more than 90 days, you must register your immigration permission and get an IRP.<\/p>\n

What Documents Do I Need?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When attending your appointment, bring the following:<\/p>\n

  • Your passport<\/strong> (must be valid)<\/li>\n
  • Your letter of enrolment<\/strong> from your Irish college or university<\/li>\n
  • Proof of health insurance<\/li>\n
  • Proof of sufficient funds (e.g., bank statement, sponsor letter)<\/li>\n
  • Your proof of address<\/strong> in Ireland<\/li>\n
  • \u20ac300 registration fee<\/strong> (paid by card only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Tip:<\/strong> Make sure all your documents are up-to-date and in the correct format to avoid delays!<\/em><\/p>\n

    What Happens at the Appointment?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    During your appointment:<\/p>\n

    • Your documents will be checked<\/li>\n
    • Your biometric details (fingerprints and photo) will be taken<\/li>\n
    • You\u2019ll pay the \u20ac300<\/strong> registration fee<\/li>\n
    • Once approved, your IRP card will be posted to you<\/strong> within a few weeks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      How to make an appointment:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Registration is by appointment only, so you\u2019ll need to book a slot in advance. Follow these steps to make your appointment:<\/p>\n

      1- Go to the ISD website<\/a>
      \n2- Click Login or Register
      \n3- If you are registering for the first time, click Don’t have an account<\/p>\n

      \n4- Enter your best email and click to receive the verification code<\/p>\n

      \n5- Enter the code
      \n6- Fill in all fields, ensuring your phone number can receive the code<\/p>\n

      \n7- Fill in the Nationality fields<\/p>\n

      \n8- Create your password<\/p>\n

      \n9- Verify your Irish phone number<\/p>\n

      \n10- Click Agree<\/strong> to consent to the processing of your personal data for identity verification<\/p>\n

      ID-Pal Verification<\/strong><\/h4>\n

      – You will receive an ID-Pal download link on your phone. Do not delete this message, as you will need it to log into the app<\/p>\n

      \n– The link will redirect you to ID-Pal, where you will verify your identity by taking a photo of your Passport<\/strong> or Driving Licence<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n– Follow the steps to fill in your personal details and current address. Ensure you select the correct nationality and provide your correct address in Ireland<\/p>\n

      \n– The verification process can take up to 24 hours<\/strong>. After approval, check the ISD website again<\/p>\n

      Booking Your Appointment<\/strong><\/h4>\n

      1- Once your passport and facial information are verified, return to the ISD website to book your registration appointment<\/p>\n

      \n2- Enter the country of residence<\/p>\n

      3- If you are not under the EU Temporary Protection Directive system, select NO<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n4- If this is your first time registering in Ireland, select YES<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n5- For language students, select Stamp 2<\/strong> under “student attending the English language course listed on the ILEP<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

      \n6- Choose your Course Start Date (as shown on your Enrolment Letter)<\/p>\n

      7- Select the appointment location (Dublin – Burgh Quay<\/strong>)
      \n8- Choose a date and time slot
      \n9- Carefully review your appointment details (date, time, and location)<\/p>\n

      \n10- Monitor your booking \u2013 You will receive a confirmation email. Print it, fill in your information, and bring it on the day of your appointment.<\/p>\n
