Among the many athletes who took to the mats, one story of resilience and determination stood out. Solange Gon\u00e7alves, a 30-year-old from Sorocaba, Brazil, faced incredible challenges both on and off the tatami but emerged victorious as a champion.<\/p>\n<p>From an early age, Solange was passionate about sports. Jiu-Jitsu became a way of life, instilling discipline, strength, and invaluable life lessons. However, her journey was far from easy. In addition to the usual demands of high-level training, she battles asthma\u2014a condition that has, at times, made it difficult to train at full capacity. But rather than allowing it to hold her back, she used it as fuel to push forward.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This competition was a huge challenge for me. I have asthma, which has sometimes made training difficult. But despite this, I gave my all within my limits. Every morning, I woke up early and went to train, doing everything I needed to do. Thanks to God, everything worked out, and I was able to claim the title,&#8221; Solange shares with emotion.<\/p>\n<p>Sport teaches far more than just techniques and physical strength. It builds <strong>resilience, discipline, and unwavering belief<\/strong>. For Solange, Jiu-Jitsu is a lifelong teacher. &#8220;<em>Since I started practising, I\u2019ve learned that no matter the difficulty, we must rise above obstacles. With faith and determination, anything is possible.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The importance of English for athletes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Yet, this journey also highlighted something crucial: the <strong>importance of English for athletes<\/strong>. Competing on an international stage, Solange had to interact with opponents from different nationalities, as well as communicate with event organisers and coaches. In these moments, English proved to be an essential tool.<\/p>\n<p>Recognising this need, <strong>SEDA College proudly supported Solange on her journey<\/strong>, reinforcing the idea that mastering English opens doors\u2014not only academically and professionally but also in the sporting world. With language skills, athletes can travel, compete, learn new techniques, and connect with some of the biggest names in their field.<\/p>\n<p>Stories like Solange\u2019s inspire not just athletes but anyone striving to achieve their dreams.
