The St. Patrick\u2019s Day<\/strong> parade, that\u2019s celebrated every year in March, has been cancelled due the COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The National Public Health Emergency Team have today recommended that the National St. Patrick\u2019s Festival Parade in Dublin on March 17th and the mass gathering events at the Festival should not proceed.<\/p>\n

The decision was made by the government that is concerned about having many people agglomerated and exposed to the virus. It\u2019s based on the best interests of public health.<\/p>\n

On the basis of this decision, the following events will not proceed during St. Patrick\u2019s Festival:<\/p>\n

March 17: National St. Patrick\u2019s Festival Parade, Dublin<\/p>\n

March 14-17: Festival Village, Merrion Square, Dublin<\/p>\n

March 15: Treasure Hunt, Dublin<\/p>\n

March 15: 5K Road Race, Dublin<\/p>\n

March 15: Pageant on the Plaza, Ballymun, Dublin<\/p>\n

March 17 C\u00e9il\u00ed M\u00f3r, Merrion Square, Dublin<\/p>\n

St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and is celebrated around the world every year on his feast day, 17th<\/sup> of March.<\/p>\n

Dublin hosts the largest parade attracting an estimated 500,000 people last year.<\/p>\n

Parades are held both in the Republic of Ireland and in cities and towns across Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

Last year, more than\u00a0400 landmarks in more than 50 countries turned green\u00a0to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n
